I come from a construction backround
I bought a house two years ago with horrible stinky water... No one lived there for about a year.
House age: 2005
I had the water tested by a plumbing outfit here in Wisconsin. Don't have the test on hand but the water is high in sulfer. I have a deep well 268 ft. No iron problems thou just the rotten egg smell.
Had a certifed plumber install a two tank iron curtain system hoping to solve the problem.
That was a year ago...
So the problem still is my cold water in the bathroom. Both my sink and tub cold water still smells.
Here's a layout of my system... water comes in the main an directly to iron curtain... from the top of iron curtain is a t fitting with a half inch feeding directly to my kitchen sink for hard filtered water... Then a 1 inch to my new ge water softner... Out of softner to a t where a line goes to water heater an the other to the bathroom for filtered/soften cold to bathroom.
Now what happens is weird an sort of hard to explain but I'm too my wits end.
I get home from work an the water in bathroom smells like eggs. I run the water for about 20 min an it clears up... I go to bed an wake up 6-8 hours later an the water smells again. Some days it doesn't smell at all. If people are home an using the water often its fine. If it sits for a day or two its horrible.
The thing that gets me is it splits from a t with the water heater an my hot water is fine.
The anode in my hot water heater is missing looks like it corroided away. But I don't have a hot problem.
I've tried bleaching the well with 3 gallons of bleach an let it sit for a day an then running the water an that didn't help. I put 2 cups of bleach in softner in the grey tube an recharged it. Then flushed an that did nothing.
I'm pretty sure the iron curtain works fine cause the water directly out of it to the kitchen sink is fine.
The iron curtain is supposed to be one of the best systems to have which is also why I'm confused.
This is hard to explain but if anyone has questions I will go into more detail..
Looking for ideas.. for I'm no plumber. But I don't want to pay for one either.
Thanks
Doug
