Hello,
My system is XP
Since 3 days ago, my system does not detect my CD driver.
It is not listed in the device mng. List. It does not apear in My Computer window.
I'm not sure but I think it is some how connected to my last failing to use my burner NERO.
In my BIOS screen' under IDE PRIMERY MASTER it says [NOT DETECTED]
When I manualy change it from AUTO to CD/DVD, I get an error masage in black screen "ATAPI INCOMPATIBLE"
Please help, Thank you.

First confirm how your hard drive(s) and CD drive(s) are connected to the motherboard. If your hard drive is an ATA/EIDE model (vs. SATA) it would typically be connected as the master on the primary IDE controller. The CD drive would then typically be connected as the master on the secondary IDE controller. It would be unusual, but not necessarily wrong, for the CD drive to be connected to the primary IDE channel. Make sure you are affecting the desired device when changing BIOS settings. Hard drives are "ATAPI incompatible."

If the CD drive has been working fine and then suddenly isn't detected with no other changes being made to the computer, such as installation of software related to optical drives, it is usually due to a failed CD drive or a loose cable.
