My dog is a two yr old Bracco(Hunter) she is very active and is fed twice a day with natures diet and biscuits , but still she remains skinny.A few people have told me she's too skinny but I'm worried about what's happening. My other dog is two years older and is less active and regretably slightly plump they have the same diet I'm confused, what could it be?? :((

What does your Vet say?

I had a GSD who was a skinny puppy and remained thin his whole life. The Vet said he was on the low end of the "normal" range and no matter what I tried he never got heavier. He was totally healthy and active so I'm sure it was just genetic.

Mabey your other dog eats hunters food try to watch them eat or put them is separate rooms and pretty soon if he is still the same take him to the vet for a check up.

I agree with Judy, genetics can play a big part, if the parents were always on the thin side your dog may remain thin as well.

You have to look at what a healthy weight for a dog is as well, the last 2 ribs should be visible (on short coated breeds) when the dog is running and there should be a good amount of tuck around the waist, meaning when you look down on the dog the 'waist' should taper in slightly behind the ribs.

On top of that 2 years is roughly the time most dogs start to body out... up until then they are still developing, once they hit 2 they start to build muscle and tend to gain weight.
