It is wired 480v. Right now aand is connected to a dust collection fan (direct drive). I need to slow it down so I can control the cfm and static pressure inside the lines.

What you need is a VFD (variable frequency drive).

Considering the application, setting and voltages involved this is a job for a qualified electrician.
