As far as I can recall this was a TV movie maybe in 2 parts. The good thing is I rember a lot. Its set back in egyptian times, after the time of Jesus. There's a small community that are living in the desert following the teachings of Jesus. There 4 sons of the leader and the eldest believes he is next in line to become leader, but he has committed adultery and believes his father does not know. But the father chooses the youngest as he is the goodest of the 4. The eldest overhears the father telling the youngest he will be next in line.
The eldest convinces the other 2 brothers that it would be in there best interest to get rid of there youngest brother and so the next day they decide to drop him in a hole with snakes. During this the brother yells out for mercy and one of the brothers not being able to take it lets him out and so the brothers then pass him of as a slave to a passing slave trader.
He ends up as a slave in Egypt to some dignitary, whome one day the wife tries to seduce and when he pushes her away she tells the husband he made advances towards her. One night he has a prophetic dream that that a bad crop of grain will come next year and will last 7 years, the news of this reaches the King, whom askes to meet him, the king asks him which of the egyptian gods gave him this dream. He tells the King there is only one true god, the King gets very angry, but then for whatever reason begins to like him as the thought of a mere slave standing up to a king. He then gives the brother one of the highest jobs in the land only answerable to the King himself, to look after the grain and make reserves to last 7 years.
One day whilst working in the granery he comes across his brothers who are visiting the city to get grain, he imprisons one to force them to bring his father to the city, they eventually all make up etc...

EDIT: There is a movie from 1974 called "The Story of Jacob and Joseph", that tell similar story, but the version I'm looking for the name of is a remake from 80s-90s
