My 10 week old staffie wakes up at least 3 tims everynite she will start to whine but if I try to just stroke her to calm her down it seems to make her worse & she will be jumping & trying to get out of her bed. I have been getting her out & bringing her downstairs to go for a wee or poo but I would like some advise as I'm sooo tired & would like her to sleep for longer. I have purchased a puppy pen is this a good thing to keep her in & should I remove her from my bedroom & leave her alone in it through the night?

At 10 weeks her bladder is still pretty small, and seeing as puppies are at a higher risk for becoming dehydrated with out water, it's important that she always has access to fresh water at all times.

You can always try feeding her a little earlier in the evening, but even one kibble or a small drink of water will put pressure on their developing bladders and bowels.

If she is feeling anxious during the night, I wouldn't suggest taking her out of your room, as she may wake up even more frequently from being nervous and alone. After all, dogs are pack animals and love and need the companionship.

You can try getting a crate and putting a blanket over it at night. When my dogs were puppies I crated them and put the crate in the bedroom. This helped with the anxiety at night, but of course I was still up every few hours to take them out for a wee.

As she gets older her bladder will strengthen and the amounts of time that she needs out during the night will lessen. I know it's tiring and frustrating now, but that's why people compare having a puppy to a new baby. Chalk it up to the joys of owning a puppy! :)
