Can the crank windows on a 30 year old mobile home be replaced so that they do not leak?

The entire window will have to be replaced. Mobile home windows have to be entirely replaced. The newer windows don't crank out like the older ones do. You need to get special mobile home windows as well as the windows for regular houses will not fit as they are too wide and won't fit into your walls. Contact a local mobile home supply company to get replacement windows.

Thanks, that is a helpful suggestion and just the sort of guidance I was looking for.

I worked for a manufactured home dealer and also have "hands" on experience with mobile homes and replacing of windows. If you have an entire house of windows to replace it's best to get a trusted person who does a lot of mobile home repairs to do this job for you as there could be unseen damage inside the window area inside the walls that needs to be corrected before new windows are put in. The person can also make sure the windows are properly sealed against rain and cold as well as heat intrusion by properly installing the windows.

Some MH windows are attached from the outside using screws into the home's siding (if metal) while other windows are attached via wood around the windows opening.

You can figure if you have someone do the work for you plus the cost of the window itself it should run you around $200 per window. Figure more if the window is larger than the standard window size.
