In a house purchase in Quebec, the sale included all furniture. The vendor took a great deal of the furniture. How do I go about getting reimbursed for the loss of the furniture?
In addition, the house needs repairs that I was unaware of. Is there any recourse available?

Hello H:
You need the services of a real estate attorney... Maybe if you had one BEFORE the purchase, this wouldn't be happening to you now.
Just saying...

The questions about this could go on and on.
What was in writing about the furniture in the sale agreement? An itemized list that was part of the document? Did you do a walk through hours before the closing? The words 'All furniture' aren't going to help much, and the time limit will depend on what a court would consider reasonable, given that you could just as easily get rid of it too (I don't think there's a specified time limit; for stuff not tied down, I'd suggest you start a paper trail within a day or 2!). You should start a contact between your lawyer and his, if you had one, hopefully. As for repairs, that depends too. You sue the inspection company first (you had one RIGHT?) If you want to go after the seller, you have to prove that he knowingly withheld info, and that is almost impossible. And it depends on the law in Quebec too.
