Jess lives 2.5km away from school , it takes her 30 minutes to walk to school. What is her average speed in km/h? I know that average speed = total distance dive total time , but do not get how to work it out , can anyone help please? Thanks.

Convert first minutes into hours.

60 minutes = 1 hour
30 minutes = (1/60)x30 hours = 0.5 hours

Hence, average speed = \frac{2.5}{0.5}

If he walked for an hour, he would have covered twice the distance he covers in 30 minutes :) (which is indeed 5 km/h)
