Both my 40 year old stepdaughter and I would like the adoption process to proceed. Her mom, my ex wife passed away a few years ago. My stepdaughter is way beyond the age of consent, so the adoption should go on without any interference. We live in Utah, and would like to know how to proceed.

Honestly, the best way to proceed with any adoption is to start with a family law attorney. Adult adoptions are not that common, because they are generally done for reasons of inheritance or legal standing between the parties.

I don't recommend that ANY adoption proceed without an attorney, so that's where I would start.
