From what I can remember its based in space.
Here are some details.
The first one was about a man that was out-casted(Assassin I believe) so he made a group of friends and fugitives into highly paid transporters.
--One detail I can remember was from a 3rd or so book where the friend is off by himself mourning the loss of his son and wife because they found out about his past. (he's an assassin). A woman comes after him, and they of course like romance novels fall in love but her original mission was to kill him..

Another of the books was about the son of the original couples and how his life was ending up. >< I know its limited info but I'm hoping it sparks some recognition for someone. I would love to reread it or see if the next book is out.
