My dog recently has been sick. He started throwing everything up. I went to the vet, and they gave me some anti-vommit pills for him. I've been feeding him rice with a little hamburger in it for the last two days. The problem is he won't drink water. The last two times he tried before I took him to the vet he puked. Now he shys away from it as if he is scared of what will happen. How do I get him to drink?

Try putting water in his current food, a lot of times that will sometimes 'trick' them into it.

Is he eating? Is he urinating?
You can try adding water to the food and see if he will eat it. Not much at first. If he goes for it, add more.
Water in a different form might be more appealing to him so you can try ice cubes.
You might try Pedialyte which would have nutrients he needs and a different flavor.
You can try getting him to drink small amounts from your hand to see that it isn't going to hurt.
Flavoring his water with a small amount of low sodium broth might encourage him to ignore his distrust.
Since your vet knows the condition of your dog, talk to him/her about checking him for dehydration.
Good luck and I hope he gets better soon.
I think your vet should look further into this problem. [Just to add.] How long has this been going on?

Sounds like bloodwork needs to be done. Could be pancreatitis.

Sounds like a urinalysis needs to be done (even if they have to do a needle aspirate). Could be antifreeze toxicity.

May I point out that this thread is from October.
I hope the pup has made a full recovery by now.

You're absolutely right... I hate it when I do that. Why not put a condition on that selection criteria... today's date only?
