You missed a symbol I think. And we don't know what you are trying to do. Do you need to solve the equation and find the value of x?

If so, try making all the terms in x on the same side:

8x - 2 = -9 + 7x

Subtract 7x from both sides:

8x - 2 - 7x = -9 + 7x - 7x

x - 2 = -9

Now, you need to add something to both sides, so that x is alone on the left. Can you try it now and post what you get? :)
