I am repacing the condenser fan and capacitor on my very old Rudd. The old fan has three wires and the new has four (a white, a black, a brown and a brown/white. The new cap. Is 40/5 mfd. The connection diagram on the new motor indicate: White and black go to "line" and brown with brown/white go to cap.
Questions:
Does the "line" wires go to contactor T1 and T2
Where does the white and white/brown go in the capacitor. What color on "fan" and what color on "C" Thank you very much!

May be a diagram on the side of the motor.
Connect the Black and the white to the Load side of the Contactor.
Then the Brown and brown/white to your new capacitor.
Verify the Fan blows air out the top.

Thank you for getting back to me.
Where on the capacitor should these two wires go "C" or "fan" and what color wires go where? Thanks

How many terminals are on the capacitor. Is this a dual capacitor?
Look real close at the Motor Label, It may show the Value of the needed Capacitor.

Yes it is a dual capasitor, three terminals.

Can you tell which terminals on the Capacitor is the 5 mfd?
The Voltage being higher is no problem.

No, looking fron the top all I can see is "Fan" "C" and "Herm" This capacitor is a Mars # 12086

And the motor is a Smith model F48AD53A01 1/4 hp if that helps.

I would connect to fan and C, doesn't matter which.
