We just bought a house that has a basement apartment. We decided to make it more appealing to tenants by installing a stackable washer and dryer in the basement. A plumper came out and installed the water intake lines and also a washer discharge line that drains into the floor drain in the mechanical room where the condensation lines drain for the air handler/heater. This floor drain in turn drains into a sewer ejector pump. My problem is that when a normal cycle with suds is run on the washer the drain cannot handle the water load and it spills out and gets and 2ft area wet around the drain. It's a typical floor drain, we had it snaked just to make sure but the problem remains. My question is; is there anyway to restrict or slow down the water flow so that the drain with it's p-trap can handle the water volume? Or any other helpful suggestions other than removing the washer or tearing up concrete and installing a larger drain? Thanks!
