A GFCI is designed to prevent a "Fault" current from killing or maiming a person.
A GFCI breaker looks for a change in current (0.6) between the Neutral and Hot conductors.
An AFCI breaker is designed to watch for the electric signature of an arc. It's purpose to to avert a possible fire.
