Job description as job analysis

A job description is not a job analysis.

A job description describes what is expected of an employee when performing a specific job for the company. It outlines the general duties of the job, the reporting structure and needed skills and education.

A job analysis is a very detailed day to day assessment of what an employee does.

Usually a job analysis consists of having the employee keep a daily log of all activities for a 30 day period or shorter depending on the analysis needed.
