Basement washer drains directly into the floor drain. Washer's drain hose is not connected to drain, it simply lays in it, but the water from the washer goes all over the floor. How and what is the best solution here?

You have a blockage downstream from the floor drain that must be snaked. If the floor drain has a plug located under the strainer remove it and snake from there. Otherwise snake through the trap. Good luck. Tom

Thanks, our floor drain is just an open whole as far as we know. The pipe goes about 12 inches down, curves, and stops. I am assuming it should stop and that stoppage is actually dirt that clogged it up..?.

Have you tried snaking it yet? If the floor drain's clogged with dirt what have you been draining the washer into? I still don't understand how you can wash with the hose on the floor. Do you hold it up until the washer discharges? You either have to open up that drain line or build yourself a washer station. Good luck, Tom
