I bought a new battery because my old one died.so when I put the new one in the car it tries to turn on but it won't.I want to know why?

Was the new battery fully charged ?

Were the terminals cleaned and properly tightened

It usually takes several hours to fully charge even a new battery with a 6-amp. Battery charger. Alternators should only be used to maintain a battery, not to charge it--this is what causes voltage regulators to burn out.

Possibly a dumb question however could it be the starter? Does it sound as if it is trying to turn over?
