Hi there,
I'm building a bathroom in basement. I do have roughin (1) 3" pipe for toilet and then (1) 1.5" for shower and (1) 1.5" and (1) 2" for lavatory. I have an existing sewage pit (new) and I purchased a sewage pump Diamond 1/2 hp 8200 gpm.

How do I hook everything up? I'm puzzled cause I thought all drains were 2' not 1.5 "

Hi Allis...

If you only have 1.5" for the shower then you are really roughed in for a tub...showers require a 2" drain pipe.

The 1.5" pipe coming out of the ground is probably a vent for the shower/tub, but it could also be the waste for the lavatory (?).

The 2" pipe is a vent for the toilet or it could be a WET VENT for the toilet which would allow for a lavatory to be connected to this drain.

You'll connect the vents together at 42" to 48" off the floor or higher and then run the 2" vent to a FUTURE VENT (look for FV written on a pipe in the ceiling) or any 2" or larger vent upstairs.

The sewage ejector discharge line requires a hole to be drilled in the pipe about 8" above where it connects into the pump (keeps it in the ejector pit) and will also need a check valve outside the pit. The pump discharge pipe will want to connect into the sewer main drain using a wye fitting and a cleanout.

The sewage ejector vent will need to be 2" minimum and will need to be run by itself, without connecting to other vents ans will either penetrate the roof or could be that in your area you can connect this vent into the vent system up in the attic. You would need to check this requirement with your local codes enforcement office.

All that being said, without a picture it is hard to be 100% sure of the piping as codes differ from area to area. See if you can post a picture of your pipes and find out if WET VENTING is allowed in your area and post back to let us know.

Back to you...

Allis...

I just saw your post to the comments box. I was not notified of your post in this case.

Posting pictures depends on the "SKIN" you are using...

I don't even know how to post a picture on the "new skin" yet... still learning here.

In the "old skin" try posting your answer in the ANSWER box at the bottom of the thread... send me notification automatically! You can post a picture by using the GO ADVANCED button under the answer box (you must type your answer in the box first... then click go advanced... then click MANAGE ATTACHMENTS... then a new window pops up and you click on BROWSE... then find your photo and double click that and finally click UPLOAD and SAVE ANSWER).

Back to you...
