I have a small business out of my home. I do photo slide shows onto DVD. I only plan on making around $1,000.00 a year. Do I need to file for a small business license in the state of GA?

Most Business license are from the city ( some from the county) in GA.
For example if you live in Atlanta, yes I know you would, they require a business license for any business ( by law if you mowed peoples yards there you are suppose to have a license) now do they enforce it heavy, no.
But in many areas let me pick on Baxley GA, most likely there you may not have to, but even if you did in the city, if you lived outside of the city limits you would not.
Now another issue if you live in the city and some counties is ZONING, esp if cleints are coming to your home, unless your home is zoned for a business, you may have to ask for and get a variance to allow a home business. ( depending on the zoning rules in your area)
Now again do they enforce this heavy? Not unless there is a complaint, a customer who was not happy, a neighbor not liking someone's car that blocked their drivve and so on.
Also remember that once that equipment is being used as a business, your homeowners insurance does not cover it, nor does it cover the liablity of someone getting hurt on your property for busienss, you will need to get a rider or attachment to your home owners policy to cover liablity and property of the business ( not a lot of money)

Thanks Chuck, you have been a great help! It's funny you bring up Baxley Ga. Not to many people know about Baxley Ga. The only thing I know about Baxley is that my wife was born there.
Thanks again!
