You can buy a longer tail piece or an extension piece. Find Drain - Metal - Tailpieces and other Drain & Supply at Aubuchon Hardware (http://plumbing.hardwarestore.com/51-284-drain-metal-tailpieces.aspx)

Hi Julie...

If your tailpiece is plastic like so many pop-up assemblies today then you'll want to purchase an 1-1/4 In. OD plastic slip joint extension tube... see images.

If you have a metal pop-up drain assembly then purchase the extension in metal or purchase a longer fine-threaded tailpiece... see images. If you purchase the longer fine-threaded tailpiece be sure to pick up some pipe thread sealant to coat the threads.

If the drain doesn't line up exactly with the drain you can either rotate the PTRAP (if a mechanical trap) or you could also install a flexible slip joint extension tube... see last image.

Any questions... let us know.
