What is the normal temp inside a frig that will keep leftovers good for a few days (ex ham)?

The refrigerator should be at least 40 degrees F. or colder.

I see an answer someone gave that suggested 40 degrees inside would be adequate - I might be wrong but I always thought it should be around 35 or 36 ? Take no chances though as food poisioning, of course, is a serious matter. I keep a thermometer inside mine just to help make it less likey I might become ill.

The commercial standard is 35-40 degrees. This keeps them within health department guidelines. Freezers should run at zero degree's or lower.
In the coming years, the health department is going to mandate 36 degree's on cooler temps.
I always say leftovers should be consumed within two days, but that's just my standard. Different foods have different hold times.
