Sep 28, 2010, 12:00 AM
Yep me too. But this year it feels different J. I mean I have more confidence in them, they seem to have it together more than in the past few years. They have some good players, excellent new coaches and play like they can and should win... I like it. When they win, I personally have a better week. Crazy right?

I was watching the game on taped delay (that way I can zoom past the commercials) and someone said "sorry Stringer - Go Packers" I watched the rest of the game thinking that they had already lost... I was delighted with their win...

3 and 0 The ONLY undefeated team in their conference.

I'm lovin' it. Haven't talked to the hubby since before halftime, but I'm sure he's elated too.

Remember, DaBears are basically a second half team. I never feel defeated during the first half of te game, but rather look forward to the second half.

You're right about that. I think the combination of Cutler and Martz (sp) has added a lot to the success so far.

For me in college football I like Pitt, Stanford, West Virginia. And some locals: Northwestern an maybe Purdue.

When I was a kid I loved the Steelers (back at the "steel curtain" times)... and stuck with them through the 80s when they really stunk...

I haven't followed any of the pro teams since then but still call myself, when asked, a Steeler fan... but admittedly I don't know anything about them anymore.

Stringer
Sep 28, 2010, 08:18 AM
In the 60's they were the floor mat of the whole NFL. One year they won 1 game and looked bad doing that. But they turned it around in the 70's, my heart was in every down.

How did I miss this thread? I am sad now. Thanks for pointing it out to me Stringer!

Well there is 1 team left undefeated. I can't believe it is the Kansas City Chiefs. I would like to say, the Colts will end their little victory streak but now I am unsure about the Colts ability to do that.

I love the Colts and I always will, but just not used to being on the losing side. Jacksonville and the Texans are two teams that are better than the Colts. I say this because out of all the teams we play, these two teams always give us a run for our money.

I think their main goal in the season is to beat the Colts. They always come so close and this year they both did it. So good for them.

Take MJD for example, one of the best running backs in the league. He was having a bad year so far this year but against the Colts he can once again have a great year.
He has a fantasy league of his own and you know who his running back is or at least one of them? Himself of course. Well guess who he had starting against the Colts Sunday, himself of course. Even he knew he was going to have a good game yesterday because a few people know our big weak spots in the line and hit it repeatedly. I am guessing MJD doesn't always start himsefl or they wouldn't have been talking about it yesterday.

Yea, when they said their goal was the 42 yard line, I was thinking really? That is about a 60 yard field goal, that is crazy. Then they said Scobee has one of the strongest legs in the NFL. That worried me, I think he could have made it from even farther back. I was hoping for an overtime game. I didn't get to watch the Bears game because I don't have cable at the moment until they come fix it. I checked the score before I went to bed on my phone and it said it was 3-0 at a few minutes into the third quarter. I figured it was just a slow game, but from what I hear and read, it sounds like the defense was crazy.

Both teams played excellent defense, but the Giants defense got to Cutler 9 times in the first half and gave him a concussion. Then after three plays they knocked out our second string QB... WE NEED AN OFFENSIVE LINE. They are directly responsible for Cutler's concussion in my opinion. It was terrible Adam.

Yea, that seems pretty rough. I can't believe the line let them through 10 times. 9 times to Cutler. Quarterbacks shouldn't have to take a hit. I wonder if the offensive line was really mad at him? Even if they were I don't think they would risk losing their first came because of it.

Q: What's the difference between a University of Michigan fan and a carp?
A: One is a bottom-feeding, scum sucker, and the other is a fish.

Q: How many University of Michigan fans does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: One, but he gets 3 credits.

Q: Where was O.J. hiding right before the famous white Bronco chase?
A: On the University of Michigan campus. That's the last place you would find a football player.

Q: Why do they throw out a sack of manure at University of Michigan weddings?
A: To keep the flies off the bride.

Q: Why don't University of Michigan fans let their kids play in sand boxes?
A: Because cats keep covering them up.

A University of Michigan fan walks into a doctor's office and removes his hat to reveal a frog sitting on his head. The doctor asks, "How can I help you?" The frog replies, "I was wondering if you could help me get this wart off my butt."

Q: Did you hear about the University of Michigan fan who locked his keys in his car?
A: He couldn't get his family out.

Q: Why do University of Michigan fans keep their diplomas on their dashboards?
A: So they can park in handicap spaces.

Two University of Michigan fans were walking down the street when they came upon a dog lying on the sidewalk licking and cleaning his groin like dogs do. The first University of Michigan fan says to the second, "Boy, I wish I could do that." The second University of Michigan fan replies, "Yeah, me too. But I wouldn't try it." The first University of Michigan fan asks, "Why not?" The second University of Michigan fan replies, "Because I'm afraid the dog might bite me."

Q: What do you call a good looking girl on the University of Michigan campus?
A: A visitor.

Q: Did you hear about the power outage at the University of Michigan library?
A: Forty students were stuck on the escalator for three hours.

Q: Did you hear about the fire in University of Michigan's football dorm that destroyed 20 books?
A: The real tragedy was that 15 hadn't been colored yet.

Q: Do you know why the University of Michigan football team should change its name to the "Opossums"?
A: Because they play dead at home and get killed on the road.

Q: Did you hear the story about the semi-truck carrying pigs that flipped over on the University of Michigan campus?
A: The officials had to check ID's before letting anyone back on board.

Q: What does the average University of Michigan student get on his SAT?
A: Drool.

Q: What do you get when you breed a groundhog and a University of Michigan?
A: Six more weeks of bad football.

Q: What should you do if you find three University of Michigan fans buried up to their neck in cement?
A: Get more cement.

General Schwarzkopf was walking through the desert during the Gulf War when he found a lamp on the ground. He picked it up, rubbed, and out came a genie. The genie said to the General, "I will grant you one wish." The General replied, "I wish that we will win this war. Here is a map of the desert and all the war parties. Please make us win the war." The genie responded, "I'm not that powerful of a genie. I cannot grant you that wish." "Well," the General responds, "then can you have University of Michigan win a bowl game this year?" After a moment, the genie says, "Let me see that map again."

Q: How do you make University of Michigan cookies?
A: Put them in a big Bowl and beat for 3 hours.

Q: What do you get when you cross a University of Michigan fan and a pig?
A: Nothing. There's some things that a pig will not do.

Q: How many University of Michigan freshman does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None, it's a sophomore course.

Bring whatever you want. There are many ranges around me but I'm not a member at the one that allows fully automatic... so I'd say bring your favorite handguns and plenty of ammo and we can shoot them up to your heart's desire.

He has screwed us twice this year. I am becoming dissapointed. Well, you know how the Colts and Manning are with their comebacks and they always get it done and win. You know what their record should be is 9-1. We wasn't coming back in the Houston game, I give them that. We should have won the Jacksonville game because a 59 yd field goal is ridiculous. We had a chance to beat Philly but guess what, Manning ended the game with an interception. We could have beat the Patriots in overtime at the least but guess what, Manning ended the game with an interception. So so so dissapointed. I am very impressed with the Bears this year though, 7-3, had a shutout against the Dolphins. Pretty impressive.

HI Adam,

All players have glitch periods when things don't go well, the Colts will be in the playoffs and they will do fine.

As for the Bears... "Who are these guys?" Yep, still don't know if they really earned the 7-3 record. Let's wait until after the Philly game, I have a very bad feeling about this one...

I wouldn't worry about the Philly game. They are doing great right now with Vick dominating the field. He is going to make it tough for any team as he has the past 3 weeks. The Bears have a great defense so I think they will do just fine. My question is, how do you defend against Philly? If you drop back to cover his receivers, he will run the ball and get positive yards. If you stay close and cover the line, he will burn you deep. I am still confused.

As an Eagle fan this Bears game is one that scares me. Their Defenses is great and they can put up some points. The Eagles line is so bad that if the Bears D can (and that's a big Can) contain Vick in the pocket the Bears will have a chance. But I still have the McNabb is going to blow it for us mentality So I could be completely wrong.

Well Cutler is improving with the new Martz system however you can expect at least one interception from him he tries to force some throws. The Bears have 3 pretty good receivers though. If Vick wasn't playing I would feel better, but he is. Lovie Smith said today that he has something special in mind for the game? We'll see.

Oh and our offensive line... still a question mark, but all the starters are back for this game... maybe Peppers can grab a few.

I think the game is in the afternoon, 4:15 PM here.

YAY!! The Colts finally won a game. Even though it was against the horrible Titans and it was a barely win. Well, I guess they didn't have time to score again to win. Did anybody see the game? Even though it screwed Manning and Wayne out of a touchdown, I still find it funny that Blair White almost stole it from Wayne. Dang Superbowl Hangover!

Dec 11, 2010, 06:45 AM
Yea, injuries have killed the Colts this year. I'm not trying to blame it all on the injuries but I think it is a big factor. Everybody is putting blame on Manning, but there are 10 other guys out on the field as well who are supposed to do their job. I would say 90% of his interceptions came from bad blocking and he would get hit while throwing. Plus, rookies and others running wrong routes screws things up. Everybody is lost right now and needs to fix some things. What upsets me is that Everybody has so much hate for Manning this year. I mean, come on! He is only human for one. Plus look at all the years he was a great quarterback and what he did for the Colts. He has been on a 8.5 year hitting streak and now he is in a slump, even though I don't consider it one. But people keep saying how Manning sucks and he needs to retire. How could you say that after what he has done. I still have faith in Manning and the Colts. I guess you can tell a lot of people were only along for their winning ride then jumped off when they were struggling. Not a lot of true fans like they say they are.

Stringer
Dec 11, 2010, 02:38 PM
The same here Adam, now that the Bears are winning (at least up to now) there are a ton of fair weather fans.

Let me ask you'se a question then.

By Favre coming back from retirement the past few years (mostly this year and last year) did it hurt him? (reputation wise and hall of fame wise)?

All I have to say is he should have stayed retired the first time. His reputation is not going to be great at all. Him coming back did secure his records a little bit but Manning can still reach some of them so he isn't completely safe in his records.

Either Favre kept coming back to secure his records or like he said he loved the game so much and he didn't know what else to do. Either way, I am glad he will be done after this year. I don't see a team picking him up after this year. Look what he did with the Vikings this year? And they have some great players.

I don't think you will be looking back and saying, "One of the greatest Quarterbacks of all time was Brett Favre" He took that away from himself when he came back. People lost respect.

I am pretty sure the Colts have made it to the Superbowl a couple of times, and due to injuries we have been sucking this year but still stand a good chance of making it to the playoffs and the superbowl. Thanks Stringer. It was an exciting game to be at but sad that they lost. The Colts couldn't move the ball well all game. It was very dissapointing. Sanchez couldn't complete a pass to save his life but bothe running backs ran us over which is surprising compared to what we were doing on defense.

My biggest question is: On 3rd and 4 with 1 minute left to go and you already in field goal range and you are down by 1 point what do you do?

My answer: You run the ball up the middle. Possibilities that could happen: you gain the 4 yards and pick up the 1st down. Continue running the ball down the field while the clock continues and forcing the Jets to call their timeouts; Another option, you run the ball and pick up no yards but the clock will continue to run forcing the Jets to call a timeout. After Clock gets down far enough or you can't push the ball any further, kick the field goal with no time left and win the game or kick the field goal and give them the ball with less time and less timeouts.

Colts answer: Throw a pass and it comes up incomplete. No first down and the clock is stopped and you are forced to kick a field goal. Give the Jets the ball back with a minute left and 2 timeouts. You know how the rest played out.

Another question, why the hell would Caldwell call a timeout for the Jets?

Next week you should feel the earthquake in Chicago all the way to the west coast Ex. Not sure about beating those pesky Packers though.

It is going to be a great game like their last match up. A number 4 defense against a number 5 defense.

In their last game (10 - 3 Packers) no matter what the Bears said they weren't giving 110% however their defense did a pretty good job against Rodgers (sp). This one next Sunday... for all the 'toys'.

Not sure but I heard it is a 'pick 'um. That means the Packers are picked to win as the home team gets 3 points for being at home.

I see the Bears vs. Steelers in the Superbowl. That is my guess. I could be totally wrong and it might be Packers vs. Jets. I hope for you it will be the Bears. They really deserve it. I think it is time.

That would be tough one Adam as I love both teams, but I think I'll be hoping for the Bears. But even so I would enjoy watching the Steelers beat the Jets.

The Jets are a sloppy team and shouldn't have been here to begin with. They are some trash talkers too. Wonder what they are going to say about the Steelers game.

I tend to agree, especially Ryan. He makes himself look somewhat like a country hick with his tactics. However it seems to motivate his team, I hope it doesn't cause trouble on the field in a very negative way.

Ok, take the new poll above... sorry for the spelling errors Wondergirl... I hit submit too quickly... :o

Do you not give the other options any chance?

Like The Jets vs. the Bears or the Steelers vs the Packers?

I like your scenerio better though.

First poll I have done Adam. It didn't offer me more choices, or maybe I screwed it up... probably the latter.

I wasn't disrespecting or anything Stringer. It was just an honest quiestion.

What can I say, it starts young and never ends I guess.

EDIT::: Well sorry, the picture was an 'invalid file' I guess. It was a picture of a 2 year old in a Bears' helmet sitting on a Packers' toilet...

Bears are having some trouble... down 7... 1st quarter.

Jan 23, 2011, 04:44 PM
Oh well...

Hanie (Bears third string QB) did a pretty good job though, always liked him. Too little too late.

Still hoping the Steelers win and then I can cheer against Green Bay in the SB.

Sorry to hear about the game outcome Stringer. I was playing Euchre during the game and didn't see much of what was going on. I did hear most of the highlights though.

I bleed with them however I do think that they were somewhat lucky this year and their luck just ran out.

adam_89
Jan 24, 2011, 12:46 PM
But considering they were running with their third string quarterback, they did pretty good. If the Colts have all their players back next year then they should be rolling on all cylinders. I'm hoping anyway.

I would like to see a few changes though. Manning is looking at a new contract which is good. We have a few more players that will be looking to be resigned or let go.

Bullitt they will probably resign, as well as Charlie Johnson. Vinatieri might not be a good choice to resign if it is anything more than a year. Addai will probably get resigned even though he is no good and we could get a better running back even though we don't need one but it would help the game all around.

I say they need to get rid of Bob Sanders, he is a waste of money. They should trade him and Addai somewhere and get a good running back. We need a few new offenseive lineman too. Or they need to make them stronger.

Sounds like a good analysis Adam.

Bears:

Much stronger offensive line with added experience.

A fast, big and experienced receiver.

Personally, I give Cutler one more year he needs to mature.

Sometimes is takes time to take in your surrounding and make the righ plays and get adjusted. That was one bog mistake the Colts had this year was trying to work with all these new guys and to get them to run the right routes and be on the same page as Manning. It was hard and we never got there.

To me not quite the same but...
