I know you should be yourself and everything, I know, I know, but sometimes...

The thing is, this friend is really obsessed with hardcore rock and metal, and she had some depression issues that I helped her through last year. Sometimes she starts pretending she's a rock star or something and she starts shaking her head back and forth and singing really loud to the tune of something REALLY GRATING coming from her cell phone.

I don't know how to explain this to her, or how to not hurt her feelings. She's one of the people that understands me the most, and I understand her too. But one of the things I don't understand about her was stated above.

What do I do? I keep getting embarrassed?

It's her outlet for her feelings. Some kids at sometime pretend to be Rock Stars. I see nothing weird about that . Let her be herself.

Does she do it out in public? Or just when it's the two of you?

She does it in public; I don't mind when it's the two of us, in fact, I do it too, though I really suck at singing. :P

But yes, she does embarrass me sometimes in other ways. I feel like I shouldn't be embarrassed about it, but I am.

As long as she isn't breaking any laws or drinking and taking drugs, let her be herself. People who don't like it, don't have to look or listen. She's your friend. Franky, she sounds like she would be fun to hang out with. Being moral and having good values and being the kid your parents will be proud of is what matters. God loves a joyful person.:)

I realize that being embarrassed at your or really any age is hard to handle. If you really have a special friendship with her and then just explain how much you love your friendship and how you admire her uninhibited way of expression. Then explain that you are working on how you handle that aspect of her personality and if she would mind not doing that in public until you feel more comfortable with that oulet. Now keep in mind there are probably things you do that also make her uncomfortable and she may bring those to your attention, please be as commendating with those as you expect from her. A good friendship should be able to weather give and take on both sides. Good luck
