When I got my new computer from my dad on my birthday, I installed a copy of Windows XP Professional on there and it would freeze at cdaudio.sys. Then shortly after it would freeze when I surfed the internet and played games. I could not press Ctrl Alt Delete I could not press the power button, I had to pull the power from the back of the computer. Soon it would reboot by itself and would happen more frequently.

I tried low level formatting my hard drive, fdisk and reformatting it and installing XP Professional again but it would freeze Every time at cdaudio.sys. When I low level format or fdisk or reformat it nothing happens it seems like only when I install XP it does that. What could I do?

I would suspect you do not have all the necessary drivers installed for the devices you have in your machine. Open up Control Panel, Performance & Maintenace, System. Then Click Hardware tab and click Device Manager. Look in there and see if you have any yellow question marks or maybe exclamation marks on any devices listed, maybe even an Unknown Device listing. Check for these and repost your findings

Good Luck
