View Full Version : What is a good substitute for lanolin oil

Want to make my foundation liquid vegan. Has lanolin oil in it and need to replace it.

A veg based oil would be a good replacement for lanolin. It would have to be the lightest oil you could find though. I would check in a health food store to find the best one. They have good reference books. It will probably be expensive, but you wouldn't have to use much.

Edit: afterthought - virgin coconut oil would be a good bet.

Extra virgin olive oil works well too.

I use extra virgin olive oil as a hot oil treatment for my hair. l/2 an ounce heated up moderately in the microwave, applied to hair, hot towel for 10 minutes. And then shampoo out. Works wonders and replaces anything else commercially I have ever bought.
