View Full Version : Why does my puppy walk around when he is eating?

My 14 week old cocker spaniel walks round constantly when he is having his food. He takes a mouthful, walks around in a circle, then comes backto the bowl, gets some more, walks around again... Has anyone else experienced this, and successfully stopped the behaviour?

Just a little quirky habit I'd say.

My MIL's Silky Terrier takes one piece of kibble out the bowl, walks all the way back to her bed, eats it, then goes back for another piece.
We joke that it's her exercise routine and she's trying to burn off the calories as she eats them :D

No problem, it's nothing to worry about as long as you don't mind her doing it.

If it bothers you you could try feeding her in a small area like your bathroom or in her crate where she can't wander away from the bowl, but I personally, get a god laugh every time MIL's dog does it :)

I don't think it's anything to worry about either. Sounds like he is just a happy puppy, and being funny like puppies are. :)

My Aussie/Lab mix does this as well. Nothing to worry about.

One of my girls waddles around all over the place when she is doing number 2's. Wouldn't it be great if they could tell us why they do these funny things?
