I purchased a HP designjet 600 plotter. I have a Windows Vista laptop. I had to purchase a cable that had a parallel connection on one end and the other end is a usb connection. I downloaded a printer driver for windows xp because the drivers didn't exist for windows vista. I downloaded this from HP's website. It looks like a communication problem between the plotter and the computer. When I run a test mode on the plotter it works fine. Need your help as soon as you can. I am being stubborn and trying to stay up until I can get it to plot. Thanks for any advice.

Hi,
those adapters from USB to parallel usually don't work without problems. You could purchese an external printserver, where you can connect the printer with a normal parallel cable, and the Printserver to the network (assuming you have a network: switch, router, Wifi-Router with LAN-Connection etc.). I recommend "JetDirect 170X" you should get it in eBay for around 10$.

If you have trouble installing it check out the manual on the HP Page: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&lang=en&cc=uk&docIndexId=64902&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=27317

About the driver: There is no vista driver for the device, because the product is not supported by HP anymore. The XP-Driver should work, but I can't promisse you that!

I suggest that you look through the list of drivers contained in Vista and see if you can find a generic plotter driver.

Vista does not seem to tolerate other platform drivers.

I have the same issue. The drivers from HP don't want to load, says they 're not for an x64 system. I am not sure I want to spend any more money until I see the driver work. Did you get yours working?
