Its about half as strong as real leather and tends to split a lot easier.

I'm going to have to go with past experience and say that it's not a good alternative to leather.
We had faux leather couches, top of the line, paid an arm and a leg. Within a year they were horrible. You could see through the faux leather.
I now buy leather,not faux. My new couches (all leather) are over 5 years old and they still look new. My faux leather couches were worn out within 2 years.
