Since we were replacing the garbage disposal that died recently (fairly easy - already done) we decided to replace the convoluted drainage pipes under the kitchen sinks too. The argument we are having concerns the proper placement of the P-trap.
The wall drain pipe is 2" and is located on the right side. The garbage disposal and the dishwasher are on the left. I think it would be fine to run a horizontal pipe from the disposal and have the P-trap on the right side (by the wall drain pipe). My husband insists that the disposal should drain directly into the P-trap. Is one way better than the other?
I want to do this correctly the first time, so I'll do without my kitchen sink for a day or two until I can find out the best way to do this.
