I am trying to removce a Delta bathtub spoutl There is a small indentation on the bottom of the spout, against the wall, with a plastic tab in it, no allen wrench holes, just the plastic tab. I am guessing it is a slip on connection and have tried pushing that tab left, right, up and forward while pulling on the spout but with no luck. Please help, what else can I try?

Look or feel under the tub spout for a set screw. Loosen the set screw and pull the spout off the wall pipe.

Unscrew the tub spout from the wall pipe if it does not have a set screw on the bottom.

Sorry, I am new to this site and not sure the proper protocol for reply.

I am not able to remove tab with pliers. I cannot see a set screw in there. If I try to unscrew the faucet it rotates but does not loosen.

I am tempted to go back to the store where I bought it and try to read installation instructions. (I didn't install it - plumber did.) Any other suggestions?

Here's what Delta gives for installation instructions;

Installing a Delta tub spout is a straightforward process as is the case with most tub spouts. Delta manufactures spouts for almost any type of installation. Delta also has an attachment that will allow a spout to thread onto either a short or long pipe, depending upon your bathroom plumbing setup. This attachment will thread into your spout if necessary to accommodate rear-mounting situations.

Instructions.Things You'll Need:
Allen wrench
Plumber's tape
Cloth
Pipe wrench
Slip-On

Slide the new Delta slip-on spout over the plumbing pipe coming from the wall.

Push the spout against the wall and hold the spout steady with one hand.

Insert the securing set screw into the bottom of the spout and tighten the set screw with an Allen wrench.

Screw-On

Look at your wall pipe and determine whether you need to add the rear-mount attachment to the Delta bathtub spout. The spout is designed for the plumbing pipe to attach to the front.

Insert the end without the threads into the spout, if you have a rear-mount installation. The attachment will thread into the spout hand tight. There is an o-ring on the end that goes into the spout to prevent water leaks.

Wrap the end of your plumbing pipe with plumber's tape. Thread the Delta tub spout to the pipe in a clockwise direction until the spout is hand tight.

Place a cloth over the spout and turn the spout another half-turn with a pipe wrench. The cloth will protect the finish of your new Delta spout.

That tab has to be opened up to give you access to the Allen Head Set Screw. Good luck, Tom

Hello Speedball, I ended up contacting my plumber. There is a plastic liner on this model of spout. It shows through where a allen opening would be but there is no place to insert an allen wrench. It turns out it screw off. Thanks for your help. Bev
