Hi I read the last post and I appreciate anyone wanting to help me and I will be civile and polite! I own my home and am on ssid after a drunk driver rear ended me, I have paid down the credit cards to very low but I have no extra income and reached a plateau and no longer can manage. Basically on most of these cards in the last 5 years of payments I still owe the same amount which was a great sacrifice for me! All I have is my truck which has 132k miles and a house built in the 30's and refurbished in the 70's that is not bank financible due to needed repair and I have no where to go.
I under stand eventually they will come after me and these are the steps as I understand
! Answer court summons with letter to defend and file with court and planiff
2. ask for verification or validation with the collector or plaintiff
3. file a sworn denial
At this point I have paid the original debt most of this is outragous interest and late fees! They have drained me like a vampire and I no longer have any assests left to sell and hand them the money!
Where in the heck is my bailout??
Thanks
Karen

Of course they can take you to court and get a judgment for unpaid debt. I wouldn't necessarily call it sueing. Get your ssi payment deflected to your home address or a box number instead of having it direct deposited in the bank. They can't take your ssi payment per se but any money in your bank account is fair game. In fact any payments you have coming in, take off automatic deposit and have them sent to as suggested.
