Me and my husband have been married for 2 years now and my stepdaughters mom hasn't been in her life for at least 3 years. She calls her mom and the mother never returns the calls, she hasn't seen her in at least 3 years. The courts have ordered the mom to have supervised visits and she hasn't even attempted to see her own daughter except for once to set it up and the next day she cancelled. She refused to talk to my husband about visits. She don't show up for her court dates and then when my stepdaughter does get her to answer her phone she asks"why are you calling me for" is there anything we can do to get the courts to allow me to adopt her? Can we get her for abandonment??

You can adopt her with the mother's consent.
Does the mother pay support?
The Court may have ordered that visitaton be supervised but it did not order that the mother visit the child - that is entirely at the mother's discretion.
Sounds like a sad situation for your stepchild. What is the problem with the mother?

No I didn't see this on here. I'm sorry. The mother has a very severe drinking and drug problem. Her son lives with his father and we have the daughter. There were lots of emotional abuse on the mothers part. The mother does not pay support.
