According to what I've heard, dogs eat grass to help them digest food. Sort of like we eat lettuce for the fiber. But that was the common knowledge back then. Now some say they do it to force themselves to throw up. Apparently, no one knows. But the dog experts don't think its anything to worry about:
>>>Why Do Dogs Eat Grass?
Dogs love to munch away on grass, and some even make it part of their daily routine. Fortunately, most experts believe it isn't something you should worry about. So why exactly do they gobble up that green stuff in your yard?
Scavengers 'R Us
Dogs, unlike their catty counterparts, are not carnivores. But they're not like your garden-variety omnivores, either. For tens of thousands of years, these opportunistic scavengers have devoured anything and everything, as long as it fulfilled their basic dietary requirements.
The modern dog, partly because of evolution and domestication, is no longer like its ancestors, which frequently ate their prey entirely, including the stomach contents of plant-eating animals. Instead, dogs today seek out plants as an alternative food source. Most commonly the plant is grass -- since that is what is closest at hand -- but wild canines are known to eat fruits, berries, and other vegetable matter, too.<<<Why Do Dogs Eat Grass? | PetMD (http://www.petmd.com/dog/wellness/evr_dg_eating_grass?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=eating%2520grass&utm_campaign=Dogs&gclid=CP3IiOqC-aMCFcLt7Qodr3QNHA)

Dogs will eat grass if they have an upset stomach or even if they are lacking something in their diet. Dogs in the wild are really scavengers, so they do get a healthy dose of grains and grasses in their normal diet. It comes from what their prey have eaten.
It's really nothing to worry about unless your dog seems to be suffering from an acid reflux or excessively regurgitating their food.

I agree with De Maria and Aurora, it's not really anything to worry about unless there are other symptoms accmpanying it.
One of mine loves eating grass, nothing wrong with her diet and she rarely throws it back up, she just seems to like eating it... it's only a certain type of grass in our backyard too so we just think she likes the taste.

Yes Lady loves to eat grass. No other issues aside from just plain liking the taste. :)

In our backyard we have what we call 'paddock grass' it's not the nice plush lawn grass, it's the big bladed, tall wet stuff, she goes crazy for it.
Thankfully most of that is being ripped out soon and being replaced with concrete, it's so hard to get the mower through and the concrete will be good for the doggies nails.
