I'm 7 weeks pregnant and a complete worry wart. I started to notice over the last few days that my symptoms are slowly disappearing. I have no nausea, my breast tenderness has even subsided. I took a First Response pregnancy test 3 days ago and both lines were solid and dark and showed a strong positive so I was relieved... for now. Yesterday I woke up still worried that I still had no symptoms anymore so I took another test, around noon or so. I didn't really have to urinate but I got enough on the stick that it took a reading... and it was negative! I cried for hours thinking my worst fears have come true. My symptoms were going away.. I'm automatically thinking I lost the baby. I tried to keep calm but I had one more First Response test left and I took it first thing this morning. It came back positive BUT the pregnancy line was very faint. I'm afraid it's because I am no longer producing the hormone and it's not reading dark. Does that line indicate how much of the hormone is in your system? Is that why it is always lighter in the beginning of your pregnancy and then darkens? I'm really just trying to get some kind of piece of mind to make sure this may be considered "normal" or if maybe my worse fears are coming true. Until I can see my doctor any answers are greatly appreciated.

Good morning... Although tests are usually 99.9% accurate-- sometimes the test misfires. I took a test back in October 2008 and it said negative. I wasn't feeling right though, so I finally got to the doctor. Today, I have a beautiful 14 1/2 month old baby girl. Although I found out in the doctors office that I was pregnant, I still took another test at home and the lines were light. Once I had hit about 8 or 9 weeks, I did have nausea for 3 months or so and then they eventually went away. Try not to stress because that's not good for you or the baby. Just stay calm, relax and get to the Dr. Good luck.

If there was a loss, the pregancy hormone would still be in your system enough to pick up on a test. This is why many women who do have a miscarriage will find they still get a positive test for awhile. The urine tests are good for determining a pregnancy but not really to ease your mind about how far into a pregnancy you might be or if there is an early loss as the levels will vary greatly from person to person and where you are in the pregnancy. Most likely you didn't have enough of the hormone to register accurately, especially if you didn't really have to urinate.
Until you can see your doctor, try another test using first morning urine so that you will know the concentration will be higher and you will likely be able to provide enough as the directions will indicate.
Also, it can be perfectly normal to not feel any symptoms or to have some symptoms come and go.
Hard not to worry, I know, but hopefully another positive test result will ease your mind.
