Is your blood pressure under control with medication?
Did your doctor do any testing to try and determine why you stopped menstruating or whether you are ovulating?
Generally a lack of menstruation for an extended period means a lack of ovulation, but testing should be done to confirm this. Did it stop at 27 or 29 and how old are you now?

How much exercise are you doing? Excessive exercise is really unhealthy and can stop the menstral cycle totally. If you are over-exercising I don't think you'll be able to get pregnant.
You may want to see a fertility specialist if you want to get pregnant and get his/her expert opinion.
