I have an R reg Mazda with 62000 miles on the clock. It has behaved perfectly for 8 years but earlier this year I turned the ignition and nothing happened! I ended up buying a new battery as the old one appeared to have come to the end of it's life! However, a couple of weeks later the same thing happened with the new battery. I called out a breakdown company and they jump started the car and all was fine for about 5 months. I am now having the same trouble again. A local mechanic has tested both the battery and the alternator and says they are both fine. Someone else has suggested something to do with a computer panel that drains the battery when it should be charging? Any ideas gratefully received.

Parasitic battery drain may be an issue:
