I as a tomboy would like to ask... What do tomboys wear on Special Occasions, because I have to go to my grandparents tomorrow, and I have a sweater, embroidered jeans, a sweatshirt, and sneakers out? Are those OK for a tomboy to wear?

I disagree with material grl x10.

Captain_Brown,

Where what YOU feel comfortable to.

I take it to mean you are just going to your grandparents to spend the say with them?

Well, where whatever YOU want to.

Run it by your parents as well though.

If this is something formal, like a wedding or something, then either a dress or some kind of suit ensemble.

Look at yourself in the mirror with your sweater and jeans on. Do you look presentable? If yes, you should be fine.

Ok, going to grandparents for Christmas is not like going to a wedding or a funeral or a christmas party at the country club.

At gandma's house you should dress the way you want to, ( OK unless they are having a blacktie dinner for Christmas)

But even "tomboys" should have proper attire in their wardrobe for real special occasions, Just like I believe every man should own a good suit, if not even a tux for some events. All ladies, even younger ones need a nice pant suit and several proper dresses.

There is never a good excuse for poor dress styles esp for formal occasions.

You guys that are telling her to wear a dress or that all girls shouldhave a dress in their wardrobe are telling her to not be herself. Im a tomboy and don't own one dress. That is my style and its how I feel comfortable. I find that a decent pair of black pants and I nice sweater works just as well. I would feel so uncomfortable in a dress that I would never have a good time in one. So wear what's right for you and what you feel comfortable in.

I have seen and worn some dressy styles with my levi jeans. A dressy yet casual jacket can make a pair of jeans look like a dressy outfit. I like a black velvet jacket to dress a pair of jeans up.

The sweater could work as long as it doesn't look old and like it has seen better days.
Sweats are dress down avoid them unless you are more concerned about comfortable.
Sneakers--it depends how they look, a ratty *** pair of sneakers can make you look like
You just dropped in from the gym or something.

Jazz it up with a little bit of jewelry too.

P.S. I say. "If Susan Sommers can wear a pair of jeans with holes in the knees on The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous it is good enough for ME!!!"
