I've been in choir for 3 years, and I don't think I have a great voice, but I'm a baritone, and haven't been taking voice lessons. My goal is to be casted as gaston in the musical beauty and the beast in march. I've basically been teaching myself to sing. Does anyone out there have advice for me? It would be muchoooo appreciated :)

Numero uno, get voice lessons so you can be credible when auditioning for anything. Even though you can sing, when you audition they will check your range and if you don't have voice lessons you will be out in left field.

Secondo, after you get the voice lessons, join an agency and get an agent.

Well I've been voice tested before for one of the shows I've done, and whenever I sing along with a song gaston sings I can hit all the notes he does.

That is a good start jonny, but in order to achieve a goal, it doesn't matter what it is, money has to be invested so you can get what you want; feel that you have done the best and be the best you can be. I think it would make you feel better if you did take some voice lessons. Although you think you may be able to 'wing it' there may be some areas that need improvement. Fine tune your voice is what I am getting at.

Good luck, I hope you make it.
