I have a miller oil furnace that was installed in July of 2006 it has been running just fine until now I have power to it but it won't run. I can get the fan to start but when I hit the reset button all I get is the blinking light. Can you help:(

If it is the small fan that supplies combustion air that is running, likely the vacuum switch is bad. Look around and see if there is a decal that explains the trouble code the light may be flashing. The furnace will not progress to ignition until the control board gets the signal from the switch that the blower is on. The switch will have a hose coming from the area of the fan, and 2 wires going to the control board.

From an email:

''The fan will run when I pull the knob out so I know I am getting power
So when I push the button back in to stop the fan I then push the reset
Button and I don't get anything but I am getting power because the
Light comes on. Could this be the transformer going bad.''

As long as the light comes on, you are getting some power from the transformer.
If you have a volt meter there should be 24 volts between the R terminal and com.

I still think the problem is in one of the safety switches. Furnaces are wired up to not run rather than burn down the house when something goes wrong. All too often, what is wrong is the switch. But at least, youstill have a house left.

Best to keep all the details here in this thread. If you were going to send an email, it should have gone to Northern Heat, our best in HVAC.

Hold the button down for at least 30 seconds for a reset and you're right... you will be overriding the " dont burn my house down safety "
