I am desperately searching for a movie which I had watched either in late 80’s or early 90’s. What I remember is: there are two different spaces. 1) where the narrator is and 2) where the story takes place. These are clearly separated. The narrator starts the story, and sets the setting, introduces the characters by using objects and putting them into (I think) a glass box. The camera zooms to this box, and shifts to the second space where the fairy –fantasy tale takes place. The narrator interrupts the story and I think at intervals talks to someone who is present with him/her. Then s/he re-introduces different characters, settings etc. I remember one of the objects that the narrator used was a pair of scissors to represent a soldier? I also remember snow. Somehow I think it was a sad story, maybe it was nutcracker - but even if it is so, I need to find which version.
