Could you tell me the correct order of the rubber washers and metal washers and the nut?
I think I may have them out of order and I have a leak at one of the bolts. Thanks!

Hi Baby48...

Some bolts have way too many metal washers and rubber washers...

All you should need to do is install bolt/rubber washer through the toilet tank and then install the metal washer and nut after the bolt goes through the toilet bowl... see 1st image.

If, however, you have the multi. Washer setup, you would connect all up as in the 2nd image... tightening the first washer/nuts before you install the tank to the bowl. Here, it goes, bolt/rubber washer/tank/ rubber washer/metal washer and nut tightened to tank... then install through toilet bowl and install metal washer and tighten nut. I never use these but they can reduce the chances of leaks for a homeowner...

You decide... :)

Tighten down bolts a little at a time until you have about a 1/4" wiggle room between the toilet tank and the toilet bowl.

Let us know how you make out.. OK?

Thanks, I think we finally got that part right. All this started in an effort to correct a "running toilet" problem. Our efforts created a leak at the bolts, which we've fixed, (thanks for your help) but it still "runs". Replaced just about everything, must not have tightened the pipe thingy where the little hose runs the water down... so we'll try that now.
