My doc just called me about my pap smear results and she told me that my test came back positive for Chlamydia? Not very happy about it cause I don't know how I got that. The doc told me it can be treated and I need to come in for meds. Not having a good day already

Chlamydia is a STD. It is a sexually transmitted disease/infection. You need to have this treated or it can cause infertility. Also, your partner will need to be treated.
Here is a very good website that outlines it in very user friendly terms.
STD Facts - Chlamydia (http://www.cdc.gov/std/chlamydia/stdfact-chlamydia.htm)

It says that it comes from having sex with multiple partners?? Is there any other way this occurs?
J_9
Aug 20, 2010, 06:23 AM
No, unfortunately there is no other way it is contracted. One person gets it from another infected person and passes it on.

Wow! Well it def hasn't come from me doing anything with anyone. I'm really not in the best of moods right. I want to cry... And I'm at work.

SO the only way a person can get it from another person is if they are having sexual intercourse?
J_9

Yes, the only way you can get it is if you are having sexual relations with someone who already has it.
Please don't cry. It's one of the most common STDs.

I just really want to be able to get pregnant sometime in life and this could prevent that from happening. Though that's not the only thing I'm worried about. I just don't understand it. I told my fiancé. It was sooo embarrassing to do! He says that he's only been with me so I don't know how to fill.
Do you know anything about the treatments? I'm going to leave work early today to go get them

I'm sorry to say, but he needs to be tested as well. There is only ONE way to get this STD and it is through sex.

Aug 20, 2010, 07:14 AM
Yeah. I told him that he needs to get tested too, like asap!

Yeah. I told him that he needs to get tested too, like asap!
Then the two of you need to sit down and figure out where this came from, because the other person(s) will have to be treated and their partners will have to be treated as well.

Yeah we will sit and talk about it when I get home.
But when I talked to him on the phone he said he only been with me and he's been faithful. But I also know that "what's done in the dark will come out to the light"

I can't say where you got it. If you are sure you are faithful, then... well.
But I can say that you were given this disease through sexual contact. Whether he is unfaithful or you are, only the two of you can say for certain.

Ask your doctor how long it can be in your system before any symptoms show.
Chlamydia is silent and sometimes asymtomatic,it could have been in either of you for a long time before if started to cause problems.
Don't jump to conclusions before you have ALL the information.

From the CDC link I posted above...
Chlamydia is known as a "silent" disease because the majority of infected people have no symptoms. If symptoms do occur, they usually appear within 1 to 3 weeks after exposure.

Get to the doctor and get your health sorted.
That's your priority.

I've had suspicions of him cheating the very first time I heard of his co worker that he works with. The very first time he got busted being at her house and lying about it cause he was trying to get his "myspace" hooked up was when I had my thoughts. But he claimed that they were friends and that was it and getting mad at me about accusing him and whatnot.
There is a post on her about the situation

Can you get an infection from using a flavored latex condom to have sex?
redhed35
Aug 20, 2010, 09:06 AM
Infections are caused by bacteria and viruses.
I'm not quite sure what your asking.
Lots of people have allergies to latex, and a secondary infection may come from the irritation caused.
Do you mean can you get Chlamydia from using a condom or something else?

I mean can you get it by using a "Flavored Condom"?? I did research on that and it said that you shouldn't have sex using a flavored one.

What Is the Percentage of Getting Chlamydia When Using a Condom During Intercourse? | eHow.com (http://www.ehow.com/about_4613919_chlamydia-using-condom-during-intercourse.html)
(below information copied directly from the above link)
Chlamydia is a sexually-transmitted disease (STD) that can be contracted from sexual contact via anal, oral or vaginal intercourse. { Wearing a condom during intercourse reduces the risk of getting Chlamydia but you might still get it if you engage in any form of unprotected sex.} The Centers for Disease (CDC) states that the only ways to prevent getting chlamydia are to obstain from sex or to have sex within a monogamous relationship where both partners are tested for STDs and disease-free.
I have put in brackets the information that might help.
I could not find any information that indicated using a flavoured condom makes any difference, that does not mean its not out there, only that I could not find it.

I still don't understand where this came from though. No one has called him yet about his results so.. I have no clue!
