Hi guys,
I need your help. I just got bailed out of jail for my first offense shoplifting. I've been charged with a Class A Misdemeanor for stealing about 600 dollars worth of stuff from my place of employment over time. I am a full time student, and I've never been arrested before, or even been in trouble.
I was hoping you guys could give me some advice. In the state of Texas, by the way, the maximum penalty is a year in county jail. I, however, cannot afford to go to jail, and I was wondering if there was anyway I could possibly reduce the charges? Or maybe a plea bargain or something. Basically, what are my options?

Thanks a bunch!

A plea bargain could be an option. Did you in fact commit the offense with which you are charged? How strong is the evidence against you? Perhaps an offer of restitution in exchange for the charges being dropped? Seek the advice of a local criminal attorney.
