We picked up 2 great dane puppies from a breeder less than a week ago. Before she met with us to deliver the puppies, she had feed them dog food, water and sandwiches from the deli. She also mentioned that she had given them worm medication a week ago Wednesday and were due again the following week. She stated the dogs are 5 weeks when they are just getting to 5 weeks. Since then they both have had diarrhea, vomiting and one refused to eat anything today. At one point he chose to eat then vomited it back up. What should we do? We are giving them the correct food which is adult dog food with high protein. She recommended Pepto Bismol for their stomachs and wrote it off to new environment. HELP!

Where are you located? In most parts of the world it's illegal to sell a puppy before 8 weeks of age. More importantly, where is the breeder located? I'm sure there is an SPCA office nearby.

Secondly, these puppies are barely weaned. They need puppy food, not high protein adult food.

Thirdly, the medical questions should really be answered by a veterinarian.

I really hope you mean MONTHS not WEEKS when talking about the ages of your animals.

Get them to the vet. Even if they were acting healthy (and these two aren't), I would recommend having them checked out to make certain that they are healthy. It's the best first outing for new pets.

Understand that these pups are very ill and change in environment is probably not the cause.
