Will Emphysema kill me if so how long will I live? Are there any thing I can take to help me from smothering so bad.I use to be a one pack of cigaretts a day smoker. I never started smothering until I had stop smoking for about 3 months.should I smoke about 5 cigaretts a day to see if it will help me to stop smothering? It all depends on how bad it is now and how fast its progressing if it is. People can live a long time with it... or not. That choice is in the hands of a higher power.

Emphysema will eventually kill you. Smoking will make it worse and kill you faster.

I had a friend who died of it. It took a year or two. I honestly have no way of knowing had bad yours is, but it sounds like you are having trouble oxygenating your blood and feeling like your are suffocating. To my non-doctor mind, that sounds pretty bad.

Emphysema is progressive. Anything that causes you to cough will tend to make it worse.
