Ctually I'm sick of my 7yr old granddaughter backing chatting me and saying she hates me for no reason I would never talk like she does to me to my mother who is 91 by the way I'm 67.

Where are her parents in this? Are you her primary caregiver? More information on the relationship would be helpful for how to best handle it.

In my day (over 40 years ago) a bar of dial soap taught some serious verbal respect.

Is something going on with this kid that she is so angry?
If you could give a little more information it would be helpful.

I completely agree. We need some detailed background info to give the best advice.

Mom and Dad sound like they need a parenting class or two. They must know it is happening.
If I talked back to my grandparents I'd still be grounded, literally.

My grandmother would have knocked me across the floor. Kids today just don't have the same level of respect. On the other hand, my daughter, who just turned 9, still has a mouth. I am seeing that she is picking up a lot from the kids at school. I guess she sees them do it and thinks she can. Of course she finds out she can't but still. I do agree with the others though.

Can we say "Brat". I would tell your children the parents to this little 7yro that you prefer not to be around this child unless they are around, due to the constant disrespect that this child is allowed to show an adult!!

There are books available, however the soap works wonders...
Can you please share more?
And for the record, not in my day either, on both sides of the family. Grandparents had permission to spank. And they did.
Tell her that you can do the "cookies and a chat about respect" route, or you can do the "fresh-cut switch in the rear garden" route. It's up to her. She's old enough to decide.
It breaks my heart to spank my two boys, ages 5 and 8. The truth is I haven't had to do so but twice each. They still remember it, as I do mine.
