Last year our toilet was backed up due to the children putting toys in it. My father lift the toilet up, got the toys out but the toilet still wouldn't flush even after everything we’ve tried. So we came up to the conclusion to invest in another toilet. A few months ago when we ran the water to take a shower, the ceiling began to leak really bad so we had to stop taking showers and went to baths even the kitchen sink lost preesure, now a couple of weeks ago we found that if you run the water to fill the tub, the ceilng in the downstairs bathroom would leak, not a whole lot but still leaks. Now today I heard a running noise and thought someone was washing and when I went downstairs I find that the basement is flooded. The water came up to my ankles. We shut the water down and then realized that the water heater tank had water gushing out of it the whole night. What is going on with this house’s water?

Hi Twin12...

Nothing's wrong with the water... just plumbing issues that every house has.

Water heaters go, tubs leak and kids throwing toys down the toilet, well, that happens more often than you might think!

Anyway, at this point I'd replace the water heater and have someone look at the tub issue if that hasn't been fixed. To fix the sink I'd recommend removing the aerator.. clean it and reinstall.

And remember, next time there is any issue, popback here and let us know about it... perhaps we can help!

Finally, they make battery operated water alarms for about $10.00... all homes should have them. Check for them at any home supply store and set one next to the new water heater and one next to the boiler if you have one... just remember to change the battery once a year!

Any questions/thoughts just let us know...

I just find it weird that once the toilet backed up when we turn on the faucet for the shower and tub, it starts to leak downstairs in the kitchen and 2nd bathroom which is directly under the upstairs bathroom. Is it just a coincidence?

Hard to say,of course...

By what you describe it just sounds like coincidence to me... plumbing can be like this in some homes.

To determine much more you would need to start to access the plumbing and see from there.

Well my dad lifted the toilet and got everything and we used that stuff that you put in the toilet to break anything that's in there down but it still wouldn't flush. Do you know what could be wrong with the toilet?

Hold on now... ;)

You said, " last year our toilet was backed up due to the children putting toys in it. My father lift the toilet up, got the toys out but the toilet still wouldn't flush even after everything we’ve tried. So we came up to the conclusion to invest in another toilet"...

Are you having trouble with the new toilet?

I guess with the water heater bursting and the tub, shower and kitchen faucet issues you mentioned I kind of lost track on this...

Could you please focus me in to the main concern?

Thanks...
