The movie is a world war two naval comedy, it is in color and has many of the top Hollywood movie stars. It takes place on a very large battle ship or an aircraft carrier. The only scene I remember vividly is when an Admiral comes on board to inspect the ship and the men. All the sailors are in dress whites in neat rows at attention. As he is inspecting the men a loud hillbilly voice yells out "how ya doin y'all." The Admiral whips around and looks up to see a slovenly grimy sailor completely out of place amidst the pomp and circumstance. The Admiral turns to the ship's Captain and angrily asks "who is that sailor?" The Captain begins to mumble "ah well sir ah ah" disgusted the Admiral looks up again and yells "sailor, come down here right this minute", "aye aye sir", he responds gleefully and exits through the door. The Captain having collected himself puts his hand on the Admiral's sleeve and pulls him out of earshot and says "please Admiral hear me out, that man is the garbage grinder and the only one we have ever had that does a good job, in fact he does it so well the u boats can't find us so we tolerate him because he keeps us alive." When the garbage grinder arrives on deck the admiral has calmed down and questions the sailor about his job. The sailor says "I like this job alot most of the time, except for the chicken guts when they get stuck in the gears and then I have to crawl in there and pull them out". At this point the Admiral has had enough, he complements the sailor on his fine work and dismisses him. And they get on with the inspection the comedy and the war.

It was "Away All Boats"

"Several other memorable characters add humor and appeal to Away All Boats. For example, Gilbert Hubert, the garbage grinder who always carries a strong stench, takes great pride in keeping a clean area and plays a critical role to ensure any waste dumped into the sea is thoroughly ground up so it will not be detected by enemy submarines."
